Stand your ground, again

The murder trial of Michael Dunn started this week in Florida.  You may not have noticed.

Dunn is accused of shooting 17-year-old Jordan Davis at a gas station in 2012.  Davis was in an SUV with several other teenagers when Dunn asked them to turn down their music.  An argument followed.  Dunn claims he saw a gun in the SUV and that the teenagers were threatening him, so he pulled out his handgun and fired several shots at the SUV, killing Davis.  No weapons were found in the teenagers’ car.

Dunn is white.  Davis is black.  Dunn is now using Florida’s self-defense/”stand your ground” law in his case.  And continuing with the “sound familiar” theme, Angela Corey is prosecuting the case.
